Spitfire fly past

If anyones interested there's a spitfire taking off from farnbourgh airport around 6.30pm and flying towards hook tonight.

19:02 that took off, didnt think it would be circling the way it did as it just flew directly over our house, bugger it, clear skies so would have made a nice pic

Obv if I wasn't actually working from my laptop at home I would've seen it take off late just before 7pm.

Beatiful site against the crimson sky as it climbed majestically away.

Or so I'd imagine.

if it left farnbourgh at 7.02 it only 9 minutes to get to hook. not a bad travel time. the hotel i work for is holding a conference for a company that arranged it. twin seat spitfire (one of only a small handfull left) flew over from oxford early this afternoon parked up at the airport then took off early this evening. spent 20-25 minutes flying over the hotel then left back to the airport.

now i've seen a couple of spitfires before but from a distance, i've seen one parked up as well but watching and listening to one flying around only a couple of hundred feet off the ground was incredible. the sound of that big v12 merlin sent shivers down my spine. it must have been amazing/scary seeing 20 or 30 of them flying overhead.

esp if you were in a Dornier or a Junkers


have also now reset my watch - don't think 7'ish would've been ay acceptable at Biggin Hill
