I really like the look of the chrome twin pipe on 330is. Would a conversion from a single pipe on my 318i be as simple as getting hold of an OEM E46 330i back box and welding it or, or will it be more complicated than that?

I think the main pipe diameter is different so it will be a little more involved. If you are handy with a welder, then I dare say you could weld an adaptor in before the silencer and then fit the silencer as is.

If it's like the E46 you'll need a new boot floor too

The 330 has two pipes going into the back box as well as coming out of it, wheras the single pipe rear box (318 i presume) only has one pipe through the whole system so it will not directly replace.

I believe the pre 2001 E46 323 has an exhaust box with a single pipe going in and twin pipes coming out, so this may fit but you will probably need to modify it to reduce the pipe diameter.

hmmm.... thanks guys...

Sounds like a lot of faff just to have a bit of chrome piping sticking out...

Might just save the cash on this and put it into the 330ci/M3 fund....
