A few random 1st shots

Only ever used my camera for photographing cars at work, so took it away with me this weekend. All shots taken with a new canon 50mm lens except the 1st taken with kit lens. On a 450d. Criticism welcome!

1st taken on moor side near my house. Took the z4m for the trip. Truly remarkable car and very quick.

Some nice shots. One thing I would be careful of is the sky. The sky is blown in a few of them. You might want to take a shot with the right exposure only for the sky and then combine the two shots (or 3 I usually do) on your PC.

Is that via photoshop? Iv only used the canon software to adjust the levels slightly thats all. Where can you get photoshop from nowadays without paying a fortune?

Well yes, partly. I actually use Photomatix then Photoshop. PS costs a fair amount but I got it as a student package deal. A lot of people on these forums use free software (Gimp I've heard is good) though.

On the 450D you can set the camera to take 3 shots in a row, one shot 1 stop under-exposed, one shot normal and then one shot 1 stop over-exposed. You can change how far under and over you would like it and this might be a good way to get a feel for it. I love Photomatix, not only for HDR but for their exposure fusion option.

I hope this helps. I started photography about 2 years ago and everything I know is either self taught, online tutorials or most commonly, the help of someone on PH. Glad to be able to start returning the favour.

Remember, if you are going to take three shots as suggested by Rob. You will need to use a tripod, otherwise stacking will be very difficult.

Or you can create 3 different exposures in your software of choice, assuming you shoot in raw.

i shot all the photos in raw. Sounds like i need some software then! Where is the best place to buy?

She really doesn't, she gets that she looks like Michelle Keegan (Tina from corrie) alot tho

I've never done a comparison to be honest, Robbie. Happy with the results using this method, especially for motorsport shots

Well that's today written off. First half will be me seeing what my motorsport shots look like using multiple exposures and second half in the garden macroing and trying the same method. Thanks for that Neil
