Moving into an unfurnished house with 2 colleagues next week. We were only considering furnished to begin but this place came up at a bargain price.

We expect to be there around 8 months and require bedroom furniture and some communal furniture for the living room (one sofa and TV stand).

What's the best way to furnish a bedroom on the cheap. Obvious choice is Ikea. Just wondering if there is any other options. Looking for making it 'homely' without bankrupting myself.

Suggestions?

ebay

search for furniture within 10 miles and used.

I've got some great condition furniture (and not just the kind of stuff you find in your Nan's house) for 99p to furnish some of our flats. Many of the sellers are just happy that they didn't have to take it to the tip.

Search for a 'freecycle' group in your area, surprising what some people throw out sometimes.
