Unmarked police car - this is simply too much
Discussion
Coming up the M621 out of Leeds yesterday and there's an Audi convertible pulled over obviously getting a bit of a talking to off Dibble.
He's been pulled over by a plain blue Vauxhall Zafira (blue strobes hidden under the grille etc) - am I alone in thinking that this is simply taking the piss, and breaking a sort of unwritten "gentleman's agreement" between the coppers and the observant driver who is "making progress"? If the police are resorting to cars like this then there is really no hope of spotting them.
I would actually feel quite affronted to be nicked as a result of such underhand chicanery - normally I regard something like a Zafira as being some kind of Mumsnet yummy-mummy chariot requesting a fly-by, but even such a trivial pastime can't be enjoyed anymore
Sad, sad days

I disagree
We need more of this
Far to many BELLS on the road who suddenly drive like saints when they see the po-leece.
The second the said prick hits a beloved with his s
t driving you will see sense in this.

Sorry mate, unmarked police cars have been around for decades. If you're not breaking the law, you don't have anything to worry about.

t? Maybe it was a MID screw up related pull. The point i was making was not on this individual case, it was that there are too many bad drivers on the road that get caught out with un-marked cars. Police need to be more creative as everyone knows they drive around in BMW 330d's, 530d's and Skoda's and Volvo's.
I want more bad drivers off the road and that ain't going to happen as effectively with marked volvo's.
interesting topic.
my thoughts are thus:-
police fixed speed cameras (gatso, truvelo etc..) have to be painted bright dayglo yellow with reflective strips etc to conform with the ethos that they are safety cameras and not piggy banks. An observant driver would see the signs and ultimately the cameras and adjust their progress accordingly, surely the same moral argument is true of traffic cars!
That said, maybe the police are out to sneak up on you with unmarked cars to ensure that your driving is up to scratch at all times and in which case, fair enough.
Any plod care to comment!!!
