Is This The Next Range Rover?

PHer spots heavily disguised test mule up Midlands way

What with all this talk of Land Rovers going on at the moment, we thought we'd share this interesting nugget with you.

A Northants-based PHer spotted this heavily disguised machine on the outskirts of Daventry, but what is it? It's undoubtedly a JLR product, that much is certain, but which one exactly is more open to debate.

Our best guess is that it's a test mule for the next Range Rover, but we could be wrong. It has been known...

hehe

Best disguise I've ever seen - normally it's just black and white swirls showing 90% of the car tongue out

I would assume, if you ran the registration through the DVLA car check, it would come back to a brown, 5000cc petrol land rover of some sort (with no emissions and a low tax band).

But thats only an assumption, because after all, it isnt my car. biggrin

Credit please biggrin

I have seen them a few times round my way, Shipston on Stour, Broadway, Moreton in Marsh they always travel in a pair and seem to be in use most days. The disguise looks like battleship camo.

They have a weird extended bit at the back as well like an range rover but bigger. Sounds powerful...

I saw this very car in Moreton-In-Marsh the week before last. I also saw a not-so-disguised but still in black and white tiger stripes RR Evoque last year on the A436 between Andoversford and Bourton. If this is an official LR test route then they have good taste as these are some of the best roads in the south of England.

Saw a pair of Range Rover Mules out testing when I was up at Gaydon a few weeks ago - it was the same day as the Beemer Festival...

They drove past too quick though to get a camera on them.

I hope they don't ruin it. The word is that it's styling will be heavily influenced by the Evoque.

From the other "spy" shots it appears to have a sloping roof ala Evoque, looks like it will be the first year in a long while that I have not bought a new RR.

5 litre suv? What a truly ridiculous vehicle, I pour scorn on whoever likes them and may want to buy one.

Looks to big for the Evoke(sp)and it looks like they want it well disguised. FFRR is about the only modern 4x4 I like, please don't mess it up!

i would want one with a bigger engine, you would need all that power to get away from poor people and eco nuts.

Interesting (and by that I mean not interesting at all) that is has a VX11 registration. I'm surprised Vauxhall didn't grab all those!
