Hi All,

I need to try an ECU for my 390se Hotwire the suspect unit is labeled 14CUX AMR2175 / 80405 A
Date code 4698

I have an intermittent problem where the engine over fuels and the injector pulses are 200 plus

this seems to be temperature related but i have tried all the usual culprits in my quest to resolve this issue Temp Sensor fuel pressure regulator checked with a guage and all OK Finally i resorted to an Auto Electrician who confirmed by previous tests etc and said that the ignition was fine which it should be with new plugs / leads / distributor cap and rotor arm and coil.

Prior to resorting to outside help i spent 2 days point to point checking wiring to sensors and injectors and noting resistances etc which i have compared with literature found on here.

Incidentally the injectors in my car are 16.5 Ohms high impedance green band and not the low impedance ones and i also spent several hours trying to find the Power Resistor Pack which i now know is only present on the Flapper system

i believe the next step is to try an ECU If anyone still has a spare i would be very gratefull for the loan of it to write this out of the equation.

Best regards paul

Clearly not the original ECU with a date code of Week 46, 1998 then... the map could be all over the place.

Hi ALL,

FORGOT TO MENTION THAT

Car was registered in 1986 but stayed as a factory car untill 2000 when it was fitted out as 390se with a new engine etc.It appears that it could have been used as a development car as it also looks like it has been left hand dive at some point.

Bought the car in Blackpool 2 years ago from a guy who said he previously worked at the factory.

Best regards Paul

Ah, right... probably a 4L-spec engine then (3948 rather than 3905cc).

Well,

After spending a fortune and wasting my own and many other peoples time and having finally secured the loan of an ECM from x works TVR (Many Thank's to Heath)

It turns out to be the New AFM which is causing the problems even though initially everything was fine after fitting within 2 weeks symptoms became gradually worse culminating in 72 hours of wasted fault finding and considerable cost through mobile diagnostic.

Finally after trying a new ECM TO NO AVAIL! I resorted to fitting the old AFM at the reccomendation of X Works TVR Kirkham and low and behold all is well.

Take Note Although there are replacement AFM'S on e-bay etc which look to be a direct replacement for the OEM part nos etc It is definately False Ecconomy in the long term.

Best regards and thank you to Ian and Leigh for their assistance and responses.

Hi Paul. Glad you've got the car running again. For future use I'd find out which engine you have in there. Is it a serp? HC? etc. Sounds like you have an unusual car and could well have an interesting engine; TVR fitted alsorts to those vehicles.
