Focus stereo code

My alternator fried itself so after getting it repaired I've put it back on and reconnected the battery and now the radio is asking for the code. I don't have it. So f
ked off. Sort one problem and another arises.
The car is a mk1 mp3 focus. Thought it may have been on the back of the unit somewhere, had it out but no joy. Don't have the original book.
How can I get the bloody thing working again?????
I'd put an aftermarket one in but I don't want to lose the use of the steering wheel controls, unless there's one compatible with them??

Does it have a code next to the part number that begins with an 'M', ie M012345.
If it does, post it and I'll give you the Keycode.

It looks the same as the older 6000cd rds but it's grey and it plays mp3s too.
