No doubt this thread will attract people on their high horses, so
!
So, who out there has done this when they were younger - driven their parents' car(s) without permission, what were the cars and were there any negative outcomes?
Do your folks know now, or has it remained a secret up until this point?!

Without permission, even with insurance, is theft surely!?
If I'd 'borrowed' any of my parents cars without permission I imagine the consequences would be severe.
Regardless of your definition taken without permission/theft/borrowing etc...If I'd 'borrowed' any of my parents cars without permission I imagine the consequences would be severe.
(surely theft is only applicable if you don't show an intention to return it, otherwise it's taking without consent? (TWOC))
I did it a couple of times in my youth (9 years ago).
My Mum had an Mx-5 (mk2.5) which I used to take a girl out to the cinema in and my dad had an Alfa 156 sport wagon which I used to pick friends up from town in for petrol money.
One night my mate left his mobile in the back, he rung it constantly the next day only for my dad to bring it home not knowing how it had got there, I said it must of fallen out of his pocket the previous weekend when my dad took us to the football, it was the days of nokia 3310's and the batteries lasted for weeks so I got away with it!
No harm done, I do look back and think it was stupid but its all part of growing up.

Got caught by my mum when i was twelve/thirteen but it wasnt the first time also used to "steal" my sisters car too this was also at 13 im not proud but it was a long long time ago and i always got them home in 1 piece. first drove a car at 11 on a field and that was it for me couldnt get enough. At 14 i used to go into garage of an evening and flaten the battery on my sisters mini lights on etc,
She would try to start it in morning to go to work and end up going on bus i would push it into back alley bump start it and go to school in it picking up mates / girls on the way. I know i deserve to go to hell and if it exists i probably will.

I never did but a friend did and managed to park it on the top of a hedge and then when the front seat passenger bailed it tipped back and stuck it's arese in a muddy ditch...............
Took 8 of us to manhandle it out and back onto hard standing - not a mark/dent on the body so he drove home and parked it back in the garage and put the keys back where they were kept (see note)
He actually got away with it for 6 mths...
