Martin Brundle Tweets

Just been looking at Martin Brundles tweets and theres a couple of things in there possibly of interest. He says he has an interview in Autocar, not sure when it came out though so may be last weeks as tweeted on 31st. Says he has made mention of the BBC TV deal.

Also he says that as Le Mans doesn't clash with F1 next year he hopes to drive at Le Mans. That implies he believes he'll be commentating for F1 nest year I guess.

He knows full well he's in the front seat for SKY. They want him. He knows it. They have deep pockets. He's also (having dealt with him) a very very shrewd negotiator, who doesn't actually need the money.

He'll go to SKY. Eventually. For SACKS of cash.

I know him too. I agree that it is likely that he will go to Sky in the end. But I also believe that he has an unusual integrity and is very concerned about furthering Murdoch's ambitions and undermining the interests of the British public (particularly F1 fans) by helping to make Sky's coverage better.

I had the full Sky package already and money has never been a major hurdle; but when the Sky deal was announced, I cancelled my subscription as soon as was physically possible (the next day as it transpired). The Murdoch deal is a sickening blow to the 7 million odd British F1 fans, many of whom have remained loyal through decades of ups and downs, in spite of being unable to buy a weekend at Silverstone…

The whole BBC/Sky/British Government (the BBC is a government agency) deal is a disgrace and I have decided Murdoch will never get another penny from me as long as I live. And I know Martin Brundle has a similar resentment which he cannot public declare.

The resentment as far as I understand it is at the ineptness/unprofessional nature of the deal. The team at the Beeb had worked hard to get the show to a point where it is a superb production. It is a very professional show, superbly well produced and it pulls in great numbers. It delivers the good time and again to its audience. For the Beeb to then just sacrifice this for reasons which go very much against the grain cause Brundle considerable chagrin because its unneccessary and unprofessional. The angling and wheeler deeling that Sky have done to get their fingers in this pie are regarded as underhand and devious aswell and Brundle has a very long memory of devious and underhand deals he feels he has been on the wrong end of.

They also said when they started up as SKY that if you paid for a subscription channel you'd get no ads. I cancelled the One subscription I had with them when they started appearing. Personally Even if they do keep that promise the standard of presentation is dire. Having seen the crap that was Sky Sports News and the afternoon show that followed the games on a saturday it was woeful compared to the BBC's version. Probably down to Having the rights and not really having to listen to viewers.

Soccer saturday you mean? With Jeff Stelling presenting and Chris Kamara reporting from the grounds? That's a brilliant programme!

As for not having to listen to viewers, I think if Sky want people to subscribe they have to give them what they want. On the flipside you are pretty much forced to pay your license fee and then they go and make a decision to scrap one of their most popular and best programmes because the people at the top don't like cars.

i'm guessing if brundle goes across, he will carry quite a large say in what the coverage is actually like, he's not going to want to be part of a poor team. and if sky give him what he wants, it's hardly a difficult choice to move away from the beeb even though they have done a great job thus far.

I think it very sad that so many people appear to be capitulating over this.

Personally, I hope Sky's venture fails - and quickly, for it would seem the only way to avoid what I see as otherwise inevitable: that Murdoch and his cronies will further their ambitions; eventually buying F1.

Let's not forget that this man appears to be prepared to take liberties with British law; British public; British media; British Police; and British government. And one cannot help but wonder how many Members of Parliament have been compromised during years of phone hacking; and consequently may be more than happy to turn a blind-eye and walk quietly out of a shady room…

Murdoch would appear to have stitched things up rather nicely - for himself and his embryonic dynasty. He already 'owns' our United Kingdom and is being handed yet more of it whilst suffering the ignominy of presenting himself for a charade that I believe will lack the backbone to see justice done. Surely this man's unscrupulous methodologies (so far as we have been privileged to discover) demonstrate that he is not to be trusted? He appears manipulative and thoroughly focussed on furthering his own cause, whilst trampling the ethical standards of a generously accommodating foreign country. Of course, times move on - as do a watering down of Standards when unethical tykes get a grip on power; but if such a scenario had existed in the not-so-distant past, some of these activities would likely be considered treasonable. Yes; seriously.

Any who help further his His cause by paying through the nose to follow the thing they love - previously institutionalised as a part of British sporting heritage through our TV Licensing system which now flies in the face of its own ideology - is effectively shaking the hand of extortion!

Buying into the idea to be ripped off is madness in the extreme. He's got you by the short and curlies - but only if you stand there and let him! Now is the one and only chance you're likely to get - to say "NO !"

Murdoch fell foul of the establishment and is being used as a scape goat for Politicians who'd rather direct public ire at a commercial entity than themselves, be of no doubt.

Any and every other organisation out there is just as guilty as NI for dirty behaviour- it's just they're not on the persona non grata list just yet.

Are you not wondering why Piers Morgan and Trinity are not up to their eyeballs in st at the moment, despite being on record admitting the same kind of dirty tricks?


So, eventually getting to the point, to try and 'punish' Sky TV over anything related to anything is just cutting your bks off to spite your knob. If you want to support and watch F1, get subscribed and enjoy it. Sky and/or whoever else is not going to give one st about small scale protest, not to mention the irony in supporting other organisations who are just as shady as anything Murdoch related has done and will do again.
