Ok, it is that time where we no doubt see a lots about 9/11.

Surprised no one has mentioned this (on earlier and no doubt available on demand/ITV player).

I thought (like 9/11 Fireman) it was a very frank and sincere program albeit not quite as emotionally powerful as last nights.

Hopefully it will put another nail in the conspiracy theorists coffin. Surprised GW wasn't interviewed though, maybe there's a policy on ex Presidents talking? confused

Absolutely no mention of WTC7 which like no other building that had been on fire for 5 hours free-fell into its own footprint.
However you are absolutely correct it was a frightening, powerfull and emotional reminder of that horrible day.

Fixed.

I'd never seen the footage of Donald Rumsfeld going out to help the injured at the Pentagon before. Is it me, or could you still not see the plane hitting the Pentagon?

The most stark thing in the programme was how ridiculous the US presidential protection is. All these secret service blokes in dark glasses running about looking menacing, the gadget-laden armoured vehicles and the pointless extravagance of Air Force One: it all looks like it should work but this demonstrates that once somebody figures out that it's an illusion, it actually gets in the way of leadership and organisation.

Please don't bring that conspiracy theory bullst into this. It wasn't mentioned because to anyone with an ounce of sense it's obviously a load of bks and has no place in a grown-up documentary about what happened. I'm not particularly sensitive about 9/11 but these people making serious money out of peddling moronic "truths" disgust me, and they have also made it impossible to find answers to any genuine questions about what happened.

Ben Sliney, in his first day in a new post finds himself having to order a National grounding of all commercial traffic. A few hours later, when the skies are empty he gets a call asking who gave him permission to do it....

20 minutes later he gets another call asking why he didn't do it earlier rolleyes

The Captain of Air Force 1 telling the CO at Barksdale they're coming in to land NOW, that he must tell nobody and would he mind sorting out a bit of shopping..... bananas, muffins....oh and some fuel for the plane if you don't mind.

2 bizarre moments on a day of sheer madness.

WTC7 was looked at in its own episode. Seems pointless to repeat what has already been covered.

It was interesting to get views of events from another perspective. I guess there are plenty of stories still to come out of that day.

The documentary about the Marriott is very interesting, if you haven't seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROe3fyAZt_k&fea...

I find the cinema account of 'United 93' more poignant than Stone's 'World Trade Center', not least for using Ben Sliney, along with other ATCs playing themselves. The chilling moment of the 2nd plane hitting the south tower, from their viewpoint and they realise what they're dealing with, is palpable. Always sends a shiver down my spine!

George W comes out of it better than in other things iv seen of him. A horrible day. Despise the conspiracy theories. They seem to be based primarily off guesswork and very little knowledge. Anyone that has tried to convince me of it is hideously intelligent.

I don't really care for watching these things now (some of the more technical stuff aside). It's still such a clear memory from the live tv coverage.

Just watched it.

I thought it was a pretty good documentary, particularly for ITV.

It came across as an accurate factual documentary of what happened on that day as recalled by the key players.

GWB wasn't featured as he has recorded an exclusive programme for National Geographic which will air on Tues 6 Sept @ 21:00.

Apparently, he doesn't really add much to what he has said in the past but it'll be worth a watch anyway.
