Hi,

Can anyone tell me the typical servicing costs over 2 years @10k per annum, excluding things such as tyres, brake pads.

Regards

Keith

I was quoted £375 for an oil service (which I thought was ridiculous after having previous M cars) - not sure about inspection 1 and 2's though but I'd be interested to hear.....

They don't have inspection 1 and 2 any more. Condition based servicing now, so just stuff popping up on the computer - telling you what is needed. So you will not get a single big bill like the old M cars, but smaller ones.

I haven't had mine long, so haven't got to the point of anything big, except new rear tyres.

Thank you for the update, so depending on how you drive, you could maybe just get away with one service in 2 years?

Just interested to compare this to a C 63.

Its all going to depend on your driving style, mileage and condition of car when you get it (assuming it's not new)

I don't think the cost and requirements for the E9x M3's are that far off those for an E60 M5, for comparison I do around 5000 miles a year in my M5 and budget around £500 per annum just for servicing costs, most expensive items I've had in over two years of ownership have been oil change and spark plug services (both around £375) Brake discs / pads will be the biggest bill of the bunch though, you can check how much life the pads have via the iDrive interface so if you're buying second hand take a good look through the car's on board service schedule before committing to buy. Filter changes are around £100.

Mine is going for a service next week. Oil service, microfilter, intake silencer, vehicle check and MOT. Cooper Reading want £532.
I just got the MOT done myself today as it was out of date and I will be supplying my own oil. I got 12 litres from Eurocarparts for £107.
Hopefully this will bring it down a bit!

Out of interest, what oil are you using? I need to top mine up.

The only oil you can use on BMW M engines is castrol edge 10W-60.

Oil should be changed at least annually regardless of what the car says. Even if the CBS doesn't advise of a service, I'd always recommend looking the car over yourself anyway from time-to-time.
