I'm looking at getting an instant boiling water tap fitted in the kitchen. Research has narrowed this down to either the Quooker which gives a true 100c boiling hot water, or the Insinkerator which is 98c, but also has the benefit of having cold filtered water readily available.

Has anyone got one/care to share thoughts or experiences, pros & cons etc.

Also, I'd need a plumber to fit as I'm useless at DIY. What sort of cost for installation?. Would plumbers be able to install the electrics if required or do I need an electrician as well?.

No experience with either brand but there is nothing worse than a cup of tea made with luke warm water.

I would go for the one that gives boiling water and get a american style fridge freezer if you wanted filtered water as well

Reading the thread yesterday I visited the quooker site.

Apparently the water starts at 110C then goes through a filter and out at 100C so should (in theory) be able to make a nice cup of tea.

The insinkerator wont as it doesn't dispense boiling water, some may tell you it's fine but I would imagine that these people don't know what a good cup of tea tastes like!

If I were tempted I'd go with the Quooker or another with an even hotter claim!

We have a Quooker in our showroom and make many brews a day with it. They are a great piece of kit and when at home the wait for the kettle to boil is a right PITA biggrin

and it takes how long for a kettle to boil one mug's worth of water? These taps are great at work where there are risks of kettles being knocked over or boiled empty etc but in the home? Plus kettle = £20 tap up to £1000....
Your choice though wink
