New Arrival and a request for info from vintage experts
Discussion
I just bought this and although it’s quite a small watch by today’s standards (38.5mm dia & 19mm lugs) I love it.
The dial is lovely with the splash of red on the chrono minute register and the inner telemetre scale, which I’ll only ever use for calculating how far away the lightning strikes are in a thunderstorm.

The crystal is nicely domed & it has the Valjoux 7733 movement. Time keeping is good & the chrono works perfectly.

The case looks to be the same as the Aquastar Deepstar.
I believe the watch is late 60’s / early 70’s but I’d like some help in finding more about this watch and Arnex as a wrist watch maker in general if possible. There is very little about Arnex on the web from what I can see apart from a little info about their pocket watches (I assume it’s the same company).
Thanks in advance.

Looks really nice Andy, I have one of the Baylor/Lator/Rotary Aquaplunge/LePhare Landeron powered watches and think this is the same sort of thing but from within a different family, a 'boutique' maker if you will - French, (but strangely with a 'mile' telemeter scale), like the LeJours but apart from that I know nothing! The handset is interesting - looks like a Breuget style second hand and a Dodane(??) style hr & min hand - very cool though with a nice splash of colour on the 5 min segment, a nice movement and great dual purpose bezel too.
Lots to commend this one - good buy.
The closest I could find is something like the Triton here (bottom row, 5th from left:

...but I really like the additional '12' and line markers on yours. I think you're spot on with the age, late sixties I'd have thunk.
(BTW - that's a great catalogue page for people with bezel-reset OCD....!)
...and having re-read the title I'd point out that this isn't info from an expert!

That sort of case/movement combo was very common at the time and you tend to see lots of makes you've never heard of using them. The style of the hands isn't that common and who knows, they may have been replaced at some time.
I used to have this Swiss Emperor with the same case and movement.
