Ok approaching this with no experience what so ever as this will be the first car I have bought outside purchasing one from my father!

Fancy a Taimar as a present to myself for getting a new career! now the questions:

1. I am 6 foot 3, will I fit? (I know the best way for this would be go and try one, but I don't want to arrange a viewing, turn up smash my head of the door entrance in excitement to get in and then give the seller a potential casualty, embarrass myself and give both of us a headache).

2. Is there a buyers guide anywhere? searched TVRCC and here but can't/not competent enough to find one.

3. Best way to purchase one? (the following will be long winded >>>) Buying with my own cash will involve selling the run about and saving a couple more months, buy on franchise from a dealer will niggle me as I am paying more than what the car was advertised for unless I get 0% and this will also probably involve selling the run around, last option is a personal bank loan all though I haven't looked in to these much as it involves a trip to the bank itself, apparently this can't be quoted online!

Thank you for any help! feel free to add anything that has nothing to do with the above but you feel I need to know

Yes you will fit, but getting in and out won't be the most gainly operation in the world!

Buyers Guide, best to find someone local in the TVRCC who has one, or look at one of the many magazine guides on purchasing an M series TVR. There is quite a lot to look at, it is quite an old car now, but very few things if any are terminal!

Not many TVR Classic dealers offer finance on such old vehicles, cash is the best way, or if you must borrow get a personal loan.

if you need finance for ANY model TVR, forget it.

there's always something to spend on, out of necessity or a desire to improve it...

Scott,

I'm 6' and no problems driving Taimar's. I reckon Adrian Venn must be 6'3 and he drives it OK although as someone has already said, it can be a little awkward getting in & out.

As long as you find a decent one and get it properly checked out by someone with knowledge of them before you hand over the cash, then they needn't cost a lot to run. Much of the money spent by owners is improving them rather than on fixing them when they actually break.

Do your homework and wait till a good one comes up for sale.

Thanks Steve! some positiveness!

I will start stretching every morning and secretly practice entering and exiting the car to make it as stylish as I possibly can! cool

I think my regional organiser for the TVRCC currently has a 3000M but last I read of this it was in pieces being restored, I will do my homework and get some out of hours schooling and hopefully purchase it this winter, I have watched them over the years and this appears to be when they are most prolific in the classifieds!

Scott, i am about 19 miles north of Newcastle, its not been out on the road this year but you're welcome to come round and see how you fit in a 3000M, preferably on a dry day as my garage arrangements mean taking one out before dropping it down.

Ian that is a brilliant offer, one which I would very much like to take up as soon as possible! I have a busy couple of weeks ahead but would definitely like to arrange something if possible!
