Been looking at a few racing series to get involved with, I have had tunnel vision for a while on the caterham academy route, but then found max5racing. For someone with limited mechanical knowledge (but willing to give it a go), are there any other options? Not looking for a full locost job, but Caterham are well set and the mazda is an off the shelf product with some racing bits. Looks cheap compared to the academy. After the expense I may not want to limit myself to just races and test days, but also add a few sprints and hill climbs, hoping not to have to trailer... any thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.

thx!

Am open to options, but thought a nearly new car + race prep would be a solid start. So 5 or crate. Budget is 20-30k, but as said, open to options, close racing is key, not so much speed, good social is always a bonus. smile

Any race series that partners with a major series I.e. Btcc, britcar etc costs a fair whack on fees etc. Something to take into account, when compared to a Dmn, cscc event which is probably better racing.
