Headsets

Just gained my PPL and now need to buy a headset and I'd appreciate some advice on which ones offer best value.

David Clark and Sennheiser have been suggested but even then there's still a big a price range so it's hard to know. I do know I want noise cancelling and although I don't expect to be flying that often, I suspect I'd regret buying the cheapest ones. Even so, there's still a lot of mid-priced ones to chose from and I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

Any thoughts based on your experiences would be gratefully received.

I've had my DC for well over a decade now, still looks new. Even though you say you won't fly that often, take a look around most flying clubs at well used Peltors... It's your hearing you are protecting so I'd go for a quality at a reasonable price. DC does that nicely.

I use a Senny light weight with ANR for the day job, best headset I've ever tried but then It's my hearing so was worth the money. If you don't fly every day, big bucks ANR sets might not be an necessity.

Try out some headsets at your local club if you can, even privately owned ones, I'm sure folks will happily let try one for comfort (caveat: wearing one for a few minutes is not the same as 6-7 hours on a days touring )
