its not tidal ... or at least not any more. ...

about 2 years ago they closed off the entrance to Marina bay with a big barrage, it is now a rain catchment reservoir.

anyway, i don't think the tidal range is 130 feet here

I have fond memories of Singapore, having been in Raffles marina during the 1994/95 Europa round the world rally. We had one massive party there, and they closed the bar at 2230! We re-opened it!
World cruising received an official letter stating that the Europa round the world rally was no longer welcome in Raffles marina. Killjoys!
I don't think the bubblebath and goings on in the yacht club pool helped.....

9 meters doesn't seem very high for a bridge over a river with ocean going craft. Is it just a marina with leisure type craft, or a fully operational port?

no ocean going ships in Marina Bay, just a reservoir that is infront of the city. the bridge they are going under is the long straight after The Fullerton on the GP.

Raffles Marina was brand new then, and very "posh" as it was the first real marina in singapore, RSYC and CSC were swinging mornings. They still get nervous when the beer starts to flow after a good regatta!!!
