Couple of days away and out for a stroll when we see a Hercules coming straight down the fairway of the golf club at Rhos on Sea at about 5pm quite low and heading up the Dee eastury towards Chester.I was so entralled I didn't even take the camera out of it's case.I guess it had come from RAF Valley but I've never seen Herc's there before!

The Hercules used to fly up through Wales and through the valleys a lot from Lyneham. Quite a scary experience being inside one whilst they do it. Still reachable from Brize - the terrain of Wales is pretty unique yet familiar to the pilots.

Low level tactical training, I've been lucky enough to fly on a low level sortie up through Wales, over to Grimsby then over Salisbury Plain to drop a load. I think we stayed below 1000ft for the entire trip.

Funnily enough it was the Hawks and occasional Herc flying over my school in Conwy that inspired me to join the RAF..!
