Griffith rebuild.

Just thought i`d pop a few pics up of my recent body off refurb. The cars a 4.3 `92 pre cat. I purchased it June 2010 for a winter project. I ran it for a couple of months and then started in September.
A bit of a hairy moment taking the body off.
Chassis wasnt in too bad acondition although outriggers needed renewing. The biggest problem was cleaning all the wax oil off, as the gritt blaster wouldnt take it until it was fairly clean. Wasnt a nice job.
Engine ready for lifting. Garage roof well supported.
Complete new outriggers were welded on and then the chassis then went off to a local chap who did both the blasting and powdercoating. he primed it with a zinc coating and did a great job with the powdercoating.
Back from the coaters and the re build beggins. All new poly bushes and wheel bearings. I decided on new wishbones rather than refurbing them as they had all but had it especially the front ones.
Engine was completely stripped and re built.
Time for engine and gearbox to go back in. I had the box and diff re conditioned by John Ried.
Time to raise the body again and roll the chassis back under it.
The finished article, better than new.

Thanks for the comments chaps. Its been back on the road now about 3 weeks and yes, touch wood, it drives fantastic. Its only going to be used as a weekend summer toy so hopefully it will stay in this condition for some time. Still things to do though. I need new carpet footwell mats to tidy the inside up. Also this winter i will tidy up and spray the inner wings inside the engine bay. I should have really done this before fitting the new heat shields but i was getting desperate to get it back on the road and could fast see the summer disappearing. There will probably always be some job that will need doing to keep on top of it, but as i see it that is one of the joys of TVR ownership.
