Mainbeam not working......any advice?

Hi All

My mainbeam has stopped working.
It's not the fuse
It's not the relay
It's not the bulbs
It's not the switch

The switch works and there is power to it, the relay is clicking and I have changed it with the horn relay. The bulbs are brand new, there is no power getting to the main beam connections.

Any ideas?? I'm stumped!!

A number of things spring to mind that you have not said you checked...

Fried connections within the fusebox
Diode between main and high beam wires
Broken connection within the high beam switch on the stalk (the stalk switch is wired to switch off the main beam when high beam is selected due to the donor car having H4 headlamps but the diode stops this happening)

Where will I find the diode you refer to?

Mine was wrapped in the loom right next to the fusebox. From memory it should be connected between blue wires, one with a white stripe and one with a red stripe.

Just tried to remove the fusebord to check the wiring, how the hell do you get behind it to check????
I've removed the 13mm nut and released the board but it only moves a couple of inches????

No idea I'm afraid...... garage that MOT'd the car did it.

It should be said that Blue and Red wires are dipped and Blue and White are main...a missing relay perhaps.

It does indeed have the look of someone installing a floating relay to bypass a fuseboard problem.

Does anyone know where's the best place to get a replacement dipped beam relay?

My handbook says RFLK 30 but this doesn't match up with anything on the TVR parts sites??

Any help appreciated

Hope you've sorted this out by now. As I mentioned in your other thread, you haven't got a heater control valve...I'm pretty sure that is what these cables were connected to

Yes mate all sorted but thanks for the heads up on the loose cables
I'm going to sort the heater in the next few weeks.
