Dog Transport.. anyone gat a better idea..
Discussion
...anyone drive around with their dog in the car..? the best I have come up with is to use a Dog Harness and anchor it to one of the struts for the folding roof..
..anyone tried anything else that works better/different?? any thoughts??
..need to get this finalised for Chatsworth
Cheers

Thanks. she's mostly Ridgeback...

.. what if I get a luggage strap and run it between the two struts then I can clip her onto that so she can move about a bit more..?
..anyone know how well those struts are bolted on??

have you tried www.parcelforce.co.uk ?![]()
Yeah.. but I actually wanted her to arrive at the destination, not spend 3 weeks in a depot in Newport

On a serious note though don't either Levan or Zertec do a tailored dog blanket that saves the leather around the transmission tunnel ??? won't hold her secure but might help save the car a bit.
Thats a good idea.. I'm currently using an old towel..
Anyone any thoughts on the Anchorage capabilities of the strut mountings?? the dog weighs 25kg
What a nice doggie M@H! We have a Thai Ridgeback and her daughter the fake Doberman. When Gilly takes them out in the Chimaera, the smaller dog goes on the parcel shelf with a cheapo Halfords dog gate behind the seats to keep her back in case of sharp stop. The other goes on the passenger seat with a harness on, attached to the seat belt support near the floor.
I wouldn't personally attach the dog harness to the roof strut (with the roof up) in case doggie decided to pull the strut open.

Thia ridgeback... !!?? how different are they to the Rodesian ones then..
I found Holly abandoned by the roadside just before christmas (hence calling her Holly).. the closest we can get her to is a Ridgeback as she has all the characteristics (eccept the ridge) but a little bit smaller..
Roof strut is OK as long as the harness is at the bottom.. the Torque required to move the roof strut to open from the bottom, not the middle is huge so I think that isn't an issue.. my main concern is the strut pulling out of the back "wall" of the boot...

We carry a Springer Spaniel on the shelf of the Chimaera, using one of the harnesses sold for clipping onto a rear seat belt, but instead have fitted an eye bolt to the rear racing harness bolt hole and clip her to that with a cheap (£4) caribina (spelling?) mountaineer type clip. Easy clip on & remove. It seems easier to fit her into the harness back to front (fixing strap from her tummy rather than her back) as the length of webbing from the harness is quite short. It keeps her in the car with the roof off or on quite nicely. If you've had a springer you will know how active they can get. Still resort to the old towel/sheet though!
