Hi guys after some help here...

My soon to be 6 year old has reached the age of wanting a DS of some sort. Since I'm a bit of a gadget geek I obviously immediately thought get the latest product - the 3DS. However after some research and the recommendation that kids under 12 shouldn't be exposed to the 3D function I'm a little confused. It does appear that you can switch off the 3D functionality but in that case why the 3DS over the DS?

My concern however about buying the DS and not the 3DS would be are Nintendo and other game creators going to stop releasing games to the plain old DS platform?

Anyone had a similar decision to make - what did you go for?

Thanks

Mister V

As well as the 3D function the 3DS has better graphics over the normal DS, as well as a better online component and a few other upgrades that escape me. personally i would go for that over the older DS as i wouldn't expect a huge amount more games for it as all the developers swap to the 3DS.

Now is a good time to get a 3DS as it's just had a big price cut and there are a lot of good 1st party games on the horizon.

Hope that helps smile
