What's the consenus on this?

A nice new fully tiled bathroom and yet it's spoilt by an ugly looking 4" pipe, and what resembles a giant mushroomon stuck on top.

If I box it in, will the building inspector complain?

The agrement certificate allows the deletion of a vent-pipe and replacement with an AAV provided it's accessible. This is the case for ANY moving part in a S&V system. What is 'accessible' is another matter all together! A tile on the top with silicone sealant around that can be cut if required?? The BCO might also want to see an actual vent in the boxing to allow air in (despite the fact that the boxing is probably open to floor voids etc!!) smile

Once it's signed off, in reality no one cares! Do what you want, just ensure future access is easy and airflow to it is not restricted.
