This morning I got a call from my very distressed and upset wife. She had spun her Clio and gone into the crash barrier on the M27. Not one car stopped to see if she was ok. Eventually an off duty policeman stopped and helped, then a couple of other guys eventually stopped to help move the car onto the hard shoulder. When I eventually got to the scene, I took my Gallardo as it had fuel in it and our Suzuki didn't. I parked on the hard shoulder to find my wife with a Policeman. The policeman eventually went leaving my wife and I to wait for the AA recovery vehicle. Whilst waiting, and trying to comfort my wife who was really shaken and in tears I must have been called a w*nker, C**t, tw*t about a dozen times by the passing rubber neckers. It was ridiculous! What has happened to people, they would rather shout abuse at someone involved in an RTA than stop and see if they are ok? Thank god my wife is Ok, the cars a right off, but that can be replaced.

Sorry to hear that mate. I dont know why nobody stopped to help your wife but surely thats not the norm, there are decent people out there. At least she is ok and nobody got hurt, metal is meaningless when you think of what could have been.

That is terrible. There are very few people left that will ask if someone is alright. Sometimes you don't even need to ask. It's just good for someone just to be around.
A few years ago I had a distressed girl jump in my car from "domestic violence".
I parked a short way down the road while she phoned for the police with my mobile.

None of the people shouting would have been alone. They probably aren't even jealous, they're just automatically following a learnt stereotype of a low intelligence, low expectation male which makes him feel like he's winning kudos with friends. They're just using your car as an excuse to get this attention they desire. I wouldn't even give it a second thought.
The positive reaction his friends give him for behaving this way is quite likely because they feel that bit more superior in the presence of their moronic shouting friend. Bottom line is, it's all about their inadequacy not your car.

Glad she's ok.

Sorry to hear this Pete, there really are some proper s out there. People not stopping doesn't surprise me, it disappoints me for sure, but people are so caught up in their own world and their precious lives that they forget their are other people out there who may from time to time need 5 minutes out of their precious existence to do a bit of good for a fellow human being. Although in some cases I do truly question whether the term human being is actually appropriate to describe these people.

Which neatly brings me on to the proleteriat, the cannon fodder who were airing their opinion of you/your car, I like the way they did it protected in their metal chariot going at probably 40-50mph, gutsy. As my learned friend says above, this is just their tiny minds being unable to comprehend how someone can have something better than they have, ignore them, for they are fools.

Glad she's OK, that at the end of the day is the main thing.

people are selfish, and the fact they've been held up by the queue means that wanna vent their anger on someone, without knowing the situation.

Completely wrong I know!

I sure you get abuse simply from having the Lambo, cos they jealous, and only way their simple brains can deal with it.

Sorry to hear about your wife's RTC this morning. Hope all is well with her now.

I work as a a HATO on the M27 and get the pointless abuse that you experienced. (along with some thanks from people that we help)

As a member of the public, helping out at a live lane RTC with moving traffic is a very difficult call at the best of times. In stationary traffic it's a bit easier to do something. It must be terrifying to be in an RTC and stuck in the outside lane and equally difficult if you watch events unfold in front of you. I'm sure some people see the event as an inconvenience to there journey and how dare you slow their journey down!

It can be challenging dealing with this type of thing in a liveried vehicle with lights a blaze. I hope the people who witnessed it or saw her stranded rang 999.

Two reasons for this in my opinion.

No-one stopped to help because these days nobody give a toss about anyone else. Look at the riots. All me, me, me!

The abuse is jealousy. You have a nice car and people will look at it and be envious.

This country suffers many short falls in its people but the biggest one is a lack of moral courage.

Thanks for the words of support, What really astounded me was the amount of near misses by people slowing down to see what was going on. At one point a big HGV nearly went up the back of a woman driving a lexus as she slammed her breaks on, just to take a look at what was happening.

I think maybe the abuse was due to misreading the situation. they see a lambo, and a crashed clio, think the lambo had caused the crash and you'd stopped as involved in causing the accident.

People will slow to rubber neck, probably part of reason why police move on so quick, as people love to slow to see a police car, with flashing blues!

Like a moth to a flame, it sometimes ends up badly.
