This is something of a hypothetical question, but I've been hearing more and more about modified cars whupping supercar arse in acceleration terms and was wondering if an AJP engine has ever been turbocharged or supercharged, or even nitroused, and if so, how it responded. Anyone know? My main reason for asking is that I keep hearing about how fragile the AJP engines are so was thinking any kind of forced induction might kill them?

Cheers.

In theory any engine can be force induced - but for an engine like the AJP8 I can see it being a rather large project. Being a high performance normally aspirated engine it runs a high compression ratio - this would have to be dropped even for a light pressure turbo to avoid detonation - this means a change of big end parts and price has just gone through the roof.
For more information check out the following books:
Maximum boost: Corky Bell (on Turbo charging)
Supercharged: Also by Corky Bell
Modern engine tuning: A. Graham Bell ( a great introduction to NA tuning)
Four stroke performance: A. Graham Bell (follow up book to the one above - much more indepth)

TurboTechnics are the guys to talk too unless Joolz is able to do it for you, if so hes your man.

They did a turbo for an Elise for 10k, that being a well known Honda engine, factor in a few more K for the AJP8.

The cheapest way would be to have a NOS system installed.

I know I'm just being picky and not really helping but the K series in the Elise is a Rover engine not a Honda and the Turbo Technics conversion currently offered uses a supercharger.

Don't forget to make allowances in the budget for re-locating to Blackpool, I suspect you would be even more of a regular!
