I am looking for a replacement for my wife's Laguna. I am considering pushing the boat out to get a brand new car - the thought of warranty, reliability, etc is pushing me towards a brand new car.

I am toying with this:

as i get Partners discount, and should be able to get a good price.

Anyone have any positives or negatives for the corsa D? Engine wise will be 1.2 petrol or 1.3 CDTi in order to get decent economy for commuting, whilst having a nice looking car i want to drive and will want to keep for five years.

I don't know about handling/ride etc etc

It looks quite smart though. The face-lift was great.

Always liked Vauxhall though

When I used to work for a rental company on a work placement, Corsas seemed to be the car everyone hated who rented one. Not to mention horrible driving position and tappity engine noise.

had the 1.2 as a courtesy car whilst the vxr was getting repaired, the engine is poo so underpowered compared to rivals and not very econmomical for what it is....... i hear good things on the 1.3 cdti, gets good mpg and not heard of many problems engine wise. astons vauxhall usually have the best deals and deliver all over the country for free.

I would be more tempted by the Alfa Mito at that budget.

No idea what they're like to drive but I think they look really good with the bodykit, black wheels and roof. There's a White one near me.

That's a bloody cheap deal too... I'm guess after 3 years you'd be at a point where the car is worth more than the remaining finance so you could px it if you get bored... 5 years sounds like a long time to me!

I recently had a brand new Corsa 1.2 as a loan car. One of the least inspiring vehicles I have ever driven. There must be better elsewhere.

I've got an '11 plate Corsa SXi, the face lift version, with the 1.3cdti. The engine is reasonable, the only problem with it is that first gear is over very quickly indeed. I think my MPG is around 57mpg and is happy to sit at 80mph on the motorway with no problem (6 speed box). I got it on the partners programme which made it more economically viable. I have found it comfy, with reasonable responsiveness and handling considering what it is. Interior is a very nice place to be and doesn't feel cramped.

A nice little car which I intent to keep and use it as a run around for the next few years. But as said, that is all it is, a run around.

Nay - I'd rather have a Hyundai i20 or the new Kia Rio when it comes out (existing model if you want to literally steal it from a dealer because they should be starting to clear them out)

Spot on. Not doubting the new Corsas aren't bad cars, I just get the impression a lot of people just buy them for the sake of it...."it's a popular car so it must be good, I'll buy one of those"

13k. For a 1.2 Corsa. Blimey. 13k. I appreciate you're getting a discount but unless it is about 40% I'd sit down and have a serious word with yourself.

£13000 with a discount?

I'm probably not their target market at the best of times, but I can't understand how they shift any of those.

The "cash price" is silly at nearly £13k. Do not be taken in by the 0% offer

My ex paid around £8k for a brand new un-registered 1.2 SXi on a 10 plate

Haggle a price first and then discuss finance options

All the car mags rave about the Corsa but I always see it slated on PH, are the journos wrong?
