What headset is that?

My wife has just bought a second hand Specialized Dolce Sport road bike, which has an integrated headset.

The bike is mint but the headset is very rough and when I stripped it down, it used ball bearings in a cage which were rusty and need replacing.

The problem I have is that Specialized simply refer to it as an integrated headset, but looking on CRC etc, there are numerous different types of integrated headsets evailable and I have no idea which one to buy!!



The headset is simply branded 'Cane Creek' but has no details other than that and it looks like no Cane Creek headset I have seen for sale on line... any ideas?

If its a cartridge bearing, which it sounds like it is from your description, you can pick up replacements for that alone at a local bike shop or even halfords without having to replace the whole thing. example below

The bearings are in a cage with separate ball bearings inside - they look more like this:



The ones on CRC look totally different..

Take the old bearings down to your local bike shop. If they have any idea of what they are doing they should be able to sort you out with replacements fairly easily.

What he said then My MTB has that style and I just picked up a full set of the ball bearings for £1 from my local bike shop
