Card reader not seeing all files/folders on card

Hi again folks,
I recently bought a Kingston 19 in 1 card reader to download pics from my Canon with a Sandisk Extreme Class 10 8gb card fitted.
The reader only showed two folders with perhaps 20 pics altogether but there were 49 pics on the card. I downloaded them directly from the camera after installation of the new software (see another thread of mine for more on that)and five folders and all pics were download successfully.
Google reveals the thought that some card readers don't like class 10 cards and we should use no more than class 6 until certain issues are sorted out.
Anyone else had this problem?
