Finally, here is a work in progress for one of my builds, as requested by Dr-gn.

I'm building this Trumpeter kit for a Britmodeller GB, so will be adding turned brass barrels, new 5" turrets, and White Ensign Models etch brass update set.

The kit and AM stuff

Basic hull put together

Hull anitfouling complete

Not being a "ship" person, any background on the exploits of the USS North Carolina? I presume she was one of the US Navy WW2 battleships.

Hi Eric. She had a long career which started in the Atlantic with the view that she was to take on the Tirpitz. She then went on to a distinguished career in the Pacific island hopping campaign either protecting the carriers or on shore bombardment. She survived the war, as is now a memorial based in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Thanks.

It's nice to see that the US tends to preserve these ships.

Yes it is Eric. Wish our Governments had as much pride and foresight to have preserved some of our famous ships other than HMS Belfast. Would have loved to have seen HMS Nelson, HMS Warspite and HMS Vanguard preserved.

Anyway, bit more done. Hull camo complete. Just have to spray the decks then get on with the build proper.

Looks like another stonker.

You seem to have got quite a production line going. Beats my annual output several times over!

Bit more done to the hull, main deck painted and I've started adding the deck furniture, the chains aren't glued in their correct positions yet. I've started on the bridge and turrets, but they're taking more time than I had anticipated.

Looks fabulous

Those chains will be great when they have all that weight built in on them, some decent tension will make them real

Nice model
