Rant...Rear fogs

Why do people feel the need to drive with thier rear fog lights blazing when it is only raining? Driving down the M40 last night, the rain was moderate to heavy, which in itself was not a problem. The idiots who insist on putting the rear fogs on just add danger, as it serves no purpose apart from dazzling everyone behind them, and removing the clear distinction between tail lights and brake lights in less than perfect viz!

Sad to see even with numerous people flashing thier lights at said idiots, they plough on regardless... Learn to drive morons!

In daylight conditions of thick spray, they can be appropriate as the spray is akin to fog. They were the only lights I could see on the motorway yesterday with any clarity.

As predicted, many people with DRLs drove with no rear lights on as they had front DRLs....that's more annoying.

I think in certain circumstances it's appropriate to use fogs in rain.

I use mine passing HGVs when it's diffcult to see the car ahead of the truck but extinguish them when I'm far enough in front or see the car behind me emerge from the spray.

Fog lights are not just for fog.... You *may* use them when: "visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres".

I was trundling down the M1 yesterday afternoon driving with a big racing car trailer on back. I had my rear fogs on because the visability was crap and the trailers normal lights are dim at best !

I dont think there is anything wrong with having rear fogs on when there is lots of spray.
