Track pads for heavy car
Discussion
Audi S4, around 500bhp and 1800kg with weighty passenger.
The car runs RS6 spec brakes, which are 365mm drilled rotors with an 8 pot Brembo calliper.
I've done laps of the Ring, the Nurburgring grand prix track, and Silverstone running Mintex 1155. Although no fade as such, they don't provide enough braking power. At the ring grand prix track, I had to come off due to a red flag with no cool down time and they were on fire lol. I need something with serious bite, was thinking about DS3000. They would be track only pads. The worrying thing is the 1155s were used with std Pirelli road tyres, and I'm going to a semi slick which is going to put even more pressure on the brakes!

Drop Ian at Carbotech an email, I think their XP10 or perhaps even the XP12 pads would be ideal for you. Using XP10 at the moment and they work perfectly fine from cold for road use too, they'll take about half again the temperature that 1155's will (Had the discs glowing with them...), and have more outright power.
Thanks for the replies guys.
The discs are already 2 piece fully floating so short of going ceramic now it's down to the pads
The 1155s have never actually faded completely, but they never seem to bite hard enough either. New pads would be track only, I've learnt that doesn't work.

Ian will be able to advise you more as to whether 10's or 12's will do you better, as he's probably got a few people with a similar weight/power car running them somewhere.
You'll probably find even with the silly-spec ones that they work on the road anyway, so long as you give them the odd spanking to build the transfer film back up on the discs.
If you want to stay with Mintex then the F4R track compound has more power and fade resistance than 1155's, but at a higher price and they do have a higher wear rate on the pad and discs.

DS2500's won't cut the mustard on a heavy car on the track, tried it with an M5 and not great, superb on lighter cars.
F4R's will eat the discs for breakfast, had them on my old Evo 6 and went through 2 sets of discs for every set of pads and left nice brake dust rust spots from the discs on the bodywork, certainly stopped well though.
I've not tried DS3000's so can't comment but I suggest Pagid RS19's, good stopping power and they are an endurance racing pad so can take the heat however you might want to consider extra brake cooling with such a heavy weight car.
