Does anyone know of a forum set up for Brits living in NZ?
The reason I'm asking is I was looking for a pub that was going to be open at 6.30am Monday to watch the England vs France football match. So far we haven't been successful. Now it just so happens that I know a guy who owns a bar and he may open it for us but only if there are enough people interested. How do I get in contact with such like-minded individuals? I did a quick search around the net and found nothing. Just about every other nationality is represented but not us Brits (or POMs are antipodeans keep referring to us!)
Does anyone know of such a forum or have any ideas?

Generous of you to give us a try Kylie - there's plenty of Kiwis who won't expect that!
It's a tough one to call. The ABs will no doubt be in their usual early season form - handling errors galore, but I doubt if England will be all silky skills either.
The conditions may be the deciding factor and I can't help thinking that the ommission of Andrew Merkins from the bench is a poor call (nothing learned there then). If it's as scrappy as the last game in Wellington I'd put money on Charlie Hodgson popping more over than Carter.
Doug 'Pretty-boy' Howlett looked in good form during the trial and I'm hoping that Ben Cohen grabs hold of him early on and buries his boat-race in the turf just to make him look more like a rugby player! Jealous, Moi?
Of course I want England to win and win in style and I'll be sulking if we don't (I've always been a bad loser!). My score? a realistic 16-14 in favour of England. If we do come through and win I won't be boasting of the victory at every turn.....
Now, where's that 'England - World Champions' T-shirt..........

Was there any other reason why women should watch rugby?
Gotta have something to look at. Will go down to the local bottle store this afternoon and find a nice Wolf Blass Merlot to tuck into for this match

And we'll see.... england will go back home having not won any games on this tour I feel.... but we're blooding new players..... just remember, it's still 3 years from the next WC..... don't wanna peak too early ya see..... I think Clive's a big-picture kinda guy..... expect this tour to be england's lowest point with a slow and steady incline gearing up for the next world cup

There are no excuses for that performance - it looked like they didn't even want to be there.
Hopefully a spanking like that will wake them up for the next test and the meeting with Aussie the week after. I won't be holding my breath though as the ABs were superior in every facet of the game and England didn't even look like scoring. I guess we can console ourselves a bit on keeping our try-line uncrossed in the second half but that's small comfort.
On a happier note I did get to see Mr Howlett taste some turf courtesy of James Simpson-Daniel (the only good thing he did all game). I was also told (by a reliable source) that Dougie was going to 'come out'. Now I think about it it explains a lot!

So true.... hoping for a victory might be pushing it.... but we can hope for a MUCH IMPROVED performance. Was encouraging signs from Mike Catt and Stu Abbott (for the 15 minutes he was on the field) but the rest were Naff... I like steve thompson as a hooker but SOMEONE needt to teach him how to throw in lineouts... he was shaky at the WC and still is.
As long as I se an improvement over that performance in the rest of the tour I'll be happy.... might put a bet on England to beat the ABs next week... it's a longshot, but after that performance, the odds at the NZ TAB will be FANTASTIC!

Hmm, thanks mate, there was me, in the office in Wellington this morning, deflecting the rubgy loss by saying we were winning the more important match of the weekend, when flipping Zidane goes and scores 2 goals. Humble pie? I'm sick of it!
We did white-wash the Kiwis in the cricket though - that's something to console yourself.
I got up at 5am and travelled into town yesterday to watch the game and we really didn't deserve to lose that match. Beckham should have put that penalty away and I really don't know why Heskey is even in the England squad. As soon as he came on the whole pub booed and made comments along the lines of 'well, that's that game lost' - five minutes later he gives away a free kick just outside England's penalty box!
Still, we did play really well and looked comfortable against France. So far I've not seen anything from any of the teams that will trouble us later on (barring any more mishaps!). The result was a freak, plain and simple.
I didn't much care for the quality of some of the people watching the game though. 6.45am and several of them were very much worse for wear and screaming 'Break his
ing legs Frankie' and 'Oy, ref you ing c*nt!'. After living in a rugby environment for so long I'd forgotten about these twats. I could have seen things getting out of hand if the sprinkling of French fans in the pub had celebrated in the same manner as the English fans.
Still, the little hooligan in me did enjoy the brief rendition of 'If it wasn't for us you'd be speaking crout'!
