How do you get one?

Benefits include:

1. Never catch a cold again
2. Feel strong and healthy all the time
3. No lag the next day after long cycle rides/work-outs in the gym
4. Feeling supercharged, good energy levels
5.
6.
7. etc...

Is the magic formula Zinc?

Or, as a recent Harvard report suggested, there is no known booster for your immune system and no way to make it 'stronger' in medical science.

Over to you!

I find bananas to be great for cycling energy, it's quite sad but I even tested myself on a range of foods on my regular ride, and tracked my performace by GPS mapping. nerd

Over 25 miles of moderate off road riding, I was roughly 5 mins quicker on bananas compared with the next quickest food which was a energy bar.

Shirley stamina is different from immune system?

My immune system is relatively good (don't catch every cold going), my physical health is moderate (most of my organs work more or less as designed), my stamina is utterly utterly st.

This may sounds crazy but since I switched to a 80-90% Paleo way of eating 18 months ago I have not suffered so much as a sniffle, this from someone who seemed to perpetually have bouts of man-flu.

Recommend it to everyone.

A few of my friends are Crossfit maniacs and are amongst the fittest people you're ever likely to meet are hughly into the Paleo way of eating.

I tend to eat a well balanced diet and whilst my fittness level is nowhere near theirs (I only run a few times per week), I can't remeber the last time I was ill. I'm starting to think that I could probably increase my energy levels too if I adpoted a more Paleo approach and it's something I'm going to experiment with (although I do love my pasta!).

It's all the stuff you hear about: regular exercise, eat healthily (plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables), make sure you get enough sleep. There's no magic to it.

Yeah crossfit is a really great way to build up fitness - none of this chronic cardio business either.

I'm not an obsessive crossfitter but I do occasionally use some of the principles of it when I fancy killing myself.

Go for it with the paleo though, try 30 days strict and then reintroduce things. Start with diary first. I think the really big thing is getting rid of the grains from the diet, it really is an appreciable difference to energy levels, joint mobility, general performance, mental clarity etc. You will also find that after a couple of weeks you really do not miss them - and I used to be someone who'd easily go through 4-5 loaves of bread a week!

Sorry but how can you eat that much bread in a week? You probably feel better because stopping eating that quantity you've lost 400 stones. wink

The lad who sits opposite me at work eats basically a loaf of bread and a large packet of crisps for dinner every day and he is far slimmer than I will probably ever be despite my relatively healthy diet frown

Some people can just get away with it I guess....

Does he do a lot of exercise/sports? One day you will be able to laugh at him as he wonders why he can't eat as much as he used to. biggrin

I practise apnea and have to swim lengths underwater to build breath holds for deep long dives. Colds were a nightmare as pool training was essential, or so I thought. Stopped swimming so regularly and colds reduced dramatically.

So, avoid swimming pools and don't run or spin class in the gym when full. No getting away from long haul flights though....get one very single time a week or so following.

Ha, after I read that I think maybe closer to 3. However I eat crazy amounts, generally aim for around 3500 - 4000+ depending on what training I'm doing. I thought the wholegrains were good for me!

Dunno if this helps, But I normally (when I can be bothered) grate some fresh ginger into a container and keep it in the fridge. Then each morning a put s spoonful into some orange juice and leave it in there while I eat breakfast. Then when I'm ready to drink it in I stir it with a fork and down it. Kind tastes nice, like a orange flavoured ginger beer smile. Anyway ginger is supposed to have a number of benefits.

That's completely brilliant.

I absolutely hate the taste and texture of bananas and always have but it's just occurred to me now that I have a feeding tube I could always puree the bds and get me potassium etc that way... hrm. Stick in a blender with some milk and then sieve to get the bits out?
