Wasps in my bush.
Discussion
Please don't move to Health Matters.
The bush as the top of my drive has a noticeable number of these buzzing b
ds occupying it.
Council won't help, had a private firm out today. Who in the OH's words diagnosed them with "Confused Wasp Syndrome". Apparently, they think there is a nest there, but there isn't.
Wasp man was not allowed to remove the bush and refused to attempt to kill them as apparently the poison will just wash away in the rain.
He did say they will all die soon anyway, but how soon?
Personally, they don't bother me. But I am concerned for passers by, as the bush is right next to the pavement. I've informed a few neighbours who walk their dogs past our garden.
Anything I can do about it that doesn't involve me or bystanders getting attacked.
I've already thought about getting all Moses on the bush, but told I wasn't allowed

My dad had a wasps nest in his bush a few weeks ago. He only found out as he was trimming it (oh god, why does that sound wrong
) and they attacked him, stinging his head and face.
He just went and bought some powder from wilkinsons or somewhere, wrapped up including a hat, then poured it all over the bushes.
Job done.
We were getting a load in our house last year, hovering around roof tiles, then landing and walking under the tiles. Pest guy said they were just feeding on greenflies, etc, but I still think they're nesting somewhere, although they've been nowhere near as bad this year.

OK, I see your angle - 'protect the public'. Right, get yourself a suit like this and stand guard with a cricket bat:

Have a sign on your chest saying 'WASP PATROL' and shepherd old ladies and children safely through the danger zone. If it's a slack news day you might even get a spot on local news
