Did a search on this topic but couldnt really see anything specific in relation so thought i would ask for some feedback on who people are currently using to obtain borrowings from?

To give you an idea, i have been looking at various lenders via various loan comparison websites and as per usual the likes of Halifax, Santander, Alliance & Leicester etc are the top of the list.

But, in reality how often do these guys lend for example £15,000?

Im looking to obtain around £20k, could put down £5k as a deposit if required or just get some form of loan for the whole £20k.

Zopa was suggested to me as your borrowing from people and not backs but has anyone used them?

The main thing as im sure with everyone is i dont want to ruin my credit score by applying to a lender who is unlikely to lend that sort of money. So would rather do my homework and approach a company people on here have recently used.

Any pro's/con's of various lenders would be appreciated.

Cheers

2 months ago I applied for £9,500 from Nationwide at 6.6% APR over 3years. I've never had a loan before but I had been rejected once, I wasn't expecting to be accepted.

They ended up giving me £9,500 at 6.5% so I pay a total of £952 over the 3years. I'd give these a try, 6.5% was lower, than the lowest rate moneysupermarket found.

Thanks Stotty, appreciate your comments there.

Anyone else got a similar story? This is good info to have i feel as there are so many lenders who advertise these great rates but in reality we know they normally give you a higher rate when you actually complete the application

I think your the first iv heard Stotty getting a lower rate so well done on that smile

ps - did you have to have a Nationwide Account to be able to get the funds? i see some lenders insist you must be a customer of theres now and was that an unsecured loan?
