Close call between Porsche and BMW, but the reliability issues of previous Porsche engines knocks them down the list for me!

M3 CSL, surely. smile

NSX Wss an incredible VTEC engine, but the early ones didn't really kick out a lot of power for a 3.0L. 280 doesn't sound very supercar like in today's money. But as a package it was wonderful. And the later versions, especially the Type R and the Spoon turbo are marvelous. I've I had some spare spondoolies, I'd love one as a track car.

I have to admit to have developed a liking for the wonky-6 from VAG - at least from a curious noise and packaging perspective.

Has to be BMW, from the e34 M5 engine and including the e36 Evo and onto the engine in the 130i / Z4 etc. Awesome engines and hard to beat for all round noise / performance / reliability if you ask me.

A TVR Speed 6 with a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty would get my vote wink ... as exhilarating as six pots are ever going to get...

Have to agree with that , also the 2JZGTE (supra engines) are fabulous both in sound and tuning scope.

In an ideal world I'd vote for both the Alfa and BMW engines. BMW just pips it for me but mainly because they made the 3.8 that sits in the E34 M5 and the S54 that sits in the M3 CSL.
