After the innitial talks with them which seemed quite positive, this is the latest reply after ironing things out.
Hi Tony
Further to your telephone conversation with Kelly with regards to the rate, unfortunately we would not be able to do the rate of £65.00, the best we can offer is £85.00 per room per night. There would also be a hire charge for the meeting room of £600.00.
If you were to go ahead with the booking and hire an outside catering company for the Hog Roast you would need to make sure that they had the correct food safety standards and insurance.
I am leaving the hotel on Friday, therefore if you would like to go ahead with your booking or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Kelly
Many thanks
Amanda
It's a bit on the severly pricey side for the room hire for only one night. Maybe they just didn't want us there.

Still in the first stages of talks but it should be very simular priced to this year at EC. They don't allow outside caterers but offer their own Hog roast, BBQ or sit down meals. It even has Health Club & Spa - with 2 indoor pools, sauna, steam room, 2 spa baths, state of the art gymnasium, beauty salon. (I sound like a bloody salesman)
I know the vote is 52-48 for staying at EC, but most people also said they wouldn't mind a change also. I'm certainly not pushing to go elsewhere, just feeling around and so far i think this is ticking a lot of boxes
Carob got ya mail

I would say it's a backstop in case all else fails - the votes were 50:50 so it's not exactly controversial if we end up back there.
With the pub nearby open again, there is possibly the option of running the evening do there for a change. Just make sure that the food tickets are well controlled in case the greedy villagers descend like a plague of locusts ;^)

Looks good to me! This will keep the females entertained and maybe Mr Zig can join in:
"With more six-packs than your local off-licence, Park Hall's famous Ladies Only Nights will really test your blood pressure!
It's a muscle-rippling, bottom-wiggling hunkfest, so get your glad rags on and come and see our fellas get 'em off!"

The food issue was well controlled with the landlord doing the BBQ, with plenty of 2nd and 3rd's available, which was good. With the pub nearby open again, there is possibly the option of running the evening do there for a change. The issues you are having are the same as we encountered, ie they would be interested and offered some decent prices, but then changed their offer once we got into more detailed discussions, some even wanting to charge to segregate an area for parking.
Hope you find somewhere to fit the bill. We'll likely stay over next year.
