3 days in Germany - advice please
Discussion
Hi all,
I am just starting to plan a 3 day trip to the nurburgring and back. I was wondering if anyone has any good advice on best roads, scenery and places to visit around the area. There will be a convoy of 4 cars going. Current plan is:
Leave Thursday evening
Eurotunnel to Calais and stay thurs somewhere near or in brussels.
Have a couple of laps of the ring
Have a run on one unrestricted autobahn
Visit the black forest
Catch a Sunday late afternoon eurotunnel back
Any advice or personal experiences most welcome. I did a road trip around the alps last year and used the alpineroads website for planning which passes to use. Don't seem to find many sites for this flavour of destination.
Cheers
Doug

To get to the good driving roads in the Black Forest you are looking at a 4-5 hour drive from the 'ring.
If I were you then I would d the 'ring on the way home and drive to the Sudschwarzwald on the Thursday.
Drive up throught the forest from near the Swiss boarder through St Georgen and then onto Baden Baden. Join the A5 to Karlsruhe and then take the A65 and then the A61 (some long derestricted parts on all of those Autobahns).
Turn off on the A48 towards Polch and follow until you see sings for the 257. Follow these to the 'ring.
I would try and plan an extra day into your trip because if you have never driven though GErmany before (especially the Black Forest) then it is quite easy to take the wrong turns!)

thanks for that. didn't realise it was 4-5 hours from the ring for good roads. will take a look at the route you suggested.
one option would be to push the driving more on the thursday evening. unfortunately, adding an extra day isn't possible due to work/family/kids etc to get back to. was thinking of trying to hit the ring on friday morning, so hopefully being a little quieter than on the weekend. then drive down to the black forest friday afternoon/eve.
will have a look at the route in more detail this weekend. cheers for the ideas.

There ar still good driving roads around the 'ring but if you are keen to get to the Schwarzwald then it will take a bit of time. If you need some ideas just ask as my girlfriend is from the Suedschwarzwlad and I live an hour from the ring.one option would be to push the driving more on the thursday evening. unfortunately, adding an extra day isn't possible due to work/family/kids etc to get back to. was thinking of trying to hit the ring on friday morning, so hopefully being a little quieter than on the weekend. then drive down to the black forest friday afternoon/eve.
