Sodding Indian F1 GP ticket prices!

So i'm here in Delhi, about 30mins drive from the new Buddh racing circuit which is apparently going to host the Indian F1 GP this year. I say apparently because i drove past it on sunday and it looks completely unfinished to me, with 2 months to go. But the Indians have a way of finishing things very quickly as was the case with the Commonwealth Games, so it may happen.
So i started looking at ticket prices.
Pit Straight Grandstand? £500.
Normal Grandstand? £150
Rubbish Grandstand? £94
Standing on a dirty bit of raised land with another 2000 stinking people? £34
Out-f**king-rageous.
The average wage of people here is around £300 per month, so when you take that into account the prices are crazy.
Most people in manual labour jobs earn around £100 per month so that's even worse.
I will be going, but i expect the seats to be almost empty. Such a shame.

That will be so that Bernie can make his usual $20 million from each race or whatever it is he plunders from the business at every F1 race.
I agree that the ticket prices are a joke. Only the great & the good of Indian society will get to see the GP (assuming that it takes place) which is a great shame for the everyday Indian F1 fan.
It's about time that Bernie stood down from F1 before he prices it out the reach of most people.

Remember that money gets split with all the teams - it doesn't just got to FOM !! I agree that the ticket prices are a joke. Only the great & the good of Indian society will get to see the GP (assuming that it takes place) which is a great shame for the everyday Indian F1 fan.

The teams are as much to blame as Bernie.
I believe the Turkish GP tickets started out in 2005 priced from $100-$450 & had dropped to $25-$200 this year due to low attendance. This of course hasn't helped with hosting next years event...
To be fair you would not expect 'average wage' earners to fork out for a decent grandstand seat & i'm not defending Bernies greed at all, but this is a major sporting event which does carry a price.

I was under the impression that gate sales are the only thing that FOM & the teams *doesn't* get any cut of directly. Yes, they do indirectly as the circuit has to pay Bernie a tonne of cash for the privilege of hosting the race and they are expected to recoup that from ticket sales. They're not obliged to though (ie. the government of the host nation could choose to subsidise it if they so wish). The teams are as much to blame as Bernie.

Not being funny, but I'm pretty sure he wants to price 'normal' Indian people out of going so that he can show what the 'normal' F1 fan looks like. Even if that means no one there gives 2 hoots about what is going on but is there on a corporate do.Adrian W said:

A little more for the grandstands, a little less for general admission.I would have expected it to be very cheap to get in, and price some executive boxes expensively for the very rich. Or is there suddenly an affluent middle class in India that can afford £1000 a pair to watch some cars driving in a circle?
