Spotted in the car park at work this morning - E60 M5, no badges, painted in BURGUNDY. Full on, Grandad spec burgundy. As close to looking like a poverty spec 520 as possible without removing the 4 tailpipes. Genius. Would love to know how many people have been caught out by that thing. bow

Really? Apart from the vents on the side and the quad exhausts it looks pretty much identical to any M-Sport 5 Series.

E39 was a much better sleeper, providing you were not looking at the quad tail pipes.

Slightly different front bumper without fog lights, wing mirrors, side vents, quad exhaust with modded bumper to fit and wheels.

They're the only differences aren't they?

he didn't say that though, he said a basic 520. front dam, spoilers, skirts and arches, wheels, wing vents, quad exhausts...

put it this way, i never not notice an unbadged e39 or e60 m5

car like E60 isnt really sleeper. common people 'know' all BMW are fast and flashy regardless of model badge on back.

This gets my vote for the double bluff of looking like it's a really slow car pretending to be fast (a-la badly pimped by halfords chav family wagon), whilst actually being fast as buggery.

Good call on the double bluff.

Apart from that, Merc 500E FTW.

He probably meant 520 M Sport, which is believable.

Of course you will notice them, you're a petrol head.

I know plenty of people who wouldn't realise if they pulled up next to one.

This.

But it was the colour that did it really, it's amazing how you just don't notice the 'M' bits when the whole car is in a really dull burgundy. It tones the car down a lot, you expect to look through the window and see cream leather and a walnut dash, not sports seats and carbon trim. I'd imagine if it pulled up next too you at the lights and you couldn't see the wheels and exhaust you'd never even double take.

I also know the colour you mean. I saw an M5 estate in this colour not so long ago and it was surprising to see.
