Just watching Top Gear with Jezza driving a XM5, crazy machine! Did they release it 2years too late and miss the boat, at 76k were they a bit of a disaster for BMW.
At the end of the piece he drives a top spec FFRR, I know which one I'd have.

They are rare, but they are about! I've seen both an X5M and X6M in Canterbury and just yesterday I saw a Matt Black X5M stuck in traffic at Bedford Square in London!

One lives 2 doors down from me. Makes a nice sound going past at 8:20am out, 8:45am home, 3pm out, 3:30pm home. Pretty pointless car in this instance as it is used for the school run and does 3-4 mile trips. Personal choice for the owners and all IMO of course.

When I was at M Division in Munich back in April (great name-dropping there), they were ferrying us around in X5 and X6 Ms. They were pretty frank about the models, saying they were made to satisfy US and Asian demand, but that demand in Europe was minimal.

Even though I object to their existence, I'd have found it difficult to resist one if it was available with seven seats, but I'd have had it debadged.

Our 50i (same engine without the clever manifold and not as highly tuned) does the school run, but it also does the long family trips, so it's been to Yorkshire and Norfolk and back and made one long trip to Tuscany.

One of each outside my office most days.

More than a few X6M knocking around the city.

Often spotted filling up smile

One in my village driven by, I believe the term is, Cougar Mum? Sounds great and corners completely flat.

I would love a go in it.

But suspect the wife would kill me. wink

The X6 models have really grown on me. The X6M must be a hoot. (but I have only seen one around here)

>Opinion, not fact alert<

Fat, bloated, ugly, pointless, but I still rather strangely like the X5M.

Saw my first one at Gleneagles Hotel last weekend - very imposing.

Still prefer a 'real' ///M car, mind.

Brutally powerful and utterly capable machines! One of the senior blokes in the US has one and its fantastic. Fits well there as its big, wide and a bit flash. Sounds great and goes like the proverbial scolded cat! Pretty pointless, but then again so much of life is. Not my cup of tea, but sometimes I do think they are great. Given the budget and space I would have one.

I rarely see any of the model range, which frankly I consider to be a bonus.

The last one I happened across was a white example, fog lights blazing; loud music blasting melodically into the ears of anyone who was unfortunate enough to be within a 1km radius.

Have a biggrin

Was buzzed by an X5M in Italy last year on the Autostrada. Passed a service station some time later and it was filling up. He buzzed past again about 10 minutes later. Sounded fantastic smile

According to www.howmanyleft.co.uk, 96 X5 Ms have been registered in the UK, of which 91 are still on the road (5 SORNed, oddly enough).

That makes my X5 50i, of which a whole 46 have been registered, even rarer than the X5 M. I always knew that was goign to be a minority interest car in this era.
