How do they work? There's been some installed here locally and I can't see how they work.
They change from red to green in an instant - most people seem to just ignore them making them pointless.

Terrible sliproads, not sure a couple of flashy disco lights will help much tbh.

They have them on the A1 J9, they're green for long enough to let about 2 cars through at a time, the idea being so its easier for them to merge.
Of course your average moron will simply drive to the end of the slip road, ignoring all the gaps and sit there with that vacant, zombified expression waiting to be let in.
