I just heard this on R4.

I think that (for once) the right thing has been done.

1 thief dead
3 thieves up on robbery charges
1 florist owner cleared of any wrong doing

Well done to the florist and to the judge.

So what's going right in Manchester at the moment? There seems to have been a spate of these sort of stories recently all from that region.

A good result!

I feel sorry for the florist, no-one should have to be put in the position he is in now. I hope he doesn't feel guilty or haunted by what he had to do.

Their mistake, don't take a gun to a knife fight (with a florist)

I don't think it's "for once" at all. There was a similar case and outcome a couple of weeks ago.

At least i hope it is and 'Explain' isn't some weird plant reference I don't know about, therefore, I've been hoisted by my own petard

You've heard of a Plain Tree?

(I wish there was a "back pedalling furiously" smiley).

Until the root cause of these crimes is better understood, violent assault is going to be a perennial problem.

As long as they weed out the genuine cases of self-defence, I have no problem with these stories. It's the common or garden assaults I can't tolerate.
