Just a fun thread this one, to help me get through a bloody busy/stressful day today! What cars are out there that could be considered real alternatives to an Aston, at a max £10k pricepoint?

I'm starting with these:

What can you guys come up with??

At the more overtly sporty end of the market ... a Cerbera maybe?

Maserati 3200 GT

Maserati Ghibli (the '90s one obviously...)

Old Merc SL arguably

Well what is a XKR if it isn't a £10k Aston DB7? It absolutely nails your question.
Yeah I guess so. Just wondered if there was anything else interesting out there.

loads of stuff. All depends what traits of the Aston you are after.

If it's 2 or 2+2 coupe/vert with big engine and rwd then there's quite a bit a choice.

Lexus/Toyota Soarer
Jaguar XJS
Toyota Supra MK IV
Mitsubishi 3000GT
Dodge Stealth
Nissan 300ZX Z32
Mustang GT
Mustang Cobra
Camaro z28
Camaro SS
Camaro IROC
Trans Am
Trans Am WS6
Firebird Firehawk
Corvette C3, C4 and maybe a C5
Merc CL/SL/SEC and probably a few others
Ford T-Bird
Mercury Cougar
Porsche 928
TVR Cerb (just budget wise, maybe)

Sorry but I'm just not with you on this - that list competes within but not with Astons imo.
Pretty bang on if you look at the 2 or 2+2 coupe/vert with big engine and rwd criteria but IMO these are not the defining quality of an Aston. The XK8 is what I'd expect, waftability, gentlemen's club ambiance and old money image.

WHAT? Are you on drugs?
A Trans Am a Corvette and a Camaro are every bit the Aston Martin challenger.
hehe

For a £10k budget I think you need to be a little more flexible though. wink

Or if it's the wood and leather with the waftabity, consider more big engined saloons as alternatives. smile

10 K would buy you a Jensen Interceptor - however you'd need to be sure it wasn't a dog.

I am gobsmacked I can get a Maser for less than 11k.

I can't see a reason not to go out and buy one tomorrow.

Take into account running/servicing costs.
They're likely to remain high hehe

11k is just the beginning... a starter for 10 if you will.
