Best way to check my sills?
Discussion
On the face of it my sills are pretty solid, no obvious signs of rust and seem fine.
However out of the drain hole often seeps some pretty nasty looking rust flakes and the water is the colour of something... well.... not very pleasant.
So how can i get a look in there without drilling a great big hole in it? I've seem some people use an endoscope style thing but thats seems a bit overkill for a quick look.
Any ideas?

On a mk1 there are round plastic covers in the rear wheel arches (and possibly the front, i can't remember) that you can remove to peer into the sills. You may have to pull out the plastic arch liners to see them.
Also if you pull off the door seals you can unclip and pull back the carpets at the door base and look into some area of the sills through the round holes in the metal, or look under the kickplates for more holes.
My sills showed the first signs as bubbles under the paint that dripped water out when popped, further inspection showed tiny holes in the apparently shiny metal. If I pressed really hard on the sill with my finger I could get it to bend slightly in a couple of places. In the end I tested properly by using a centre punch, which went right through in one place. Cost about £200 to have 3 of 4 corners repaired.
In fact, there are some threads with images:
