What would NASA gain from faking it? I never understood the argument.

To be honest, no idea. Did they go?? who knows, unless you've been to the moon yourself, you'll never know. Did they fake it?? if so, who the hell cares anyway

I'd assume it would be something to do with the cold war & being seen to beat the russkies or something along those lines

Winning the Space Race with Soviet Union. And continued funding of the programme?

I'm all for believing it happened, the technology for getting there was (relatively speaking) easy to get; strap men in a capsule to a giant missile, fire it towards the moon, do lots of maths that the scientists know about, and hey presto, you're there.

People with intelligence, reasonsing ability and a predisposition to not being mongtarded cock ends tend to know they did land. Oh and those that are able to understand how amazing and significant an effort was required by so many gifted people to get there.

Not NASA, but the US Government- in its race with Russia, wanted to be seen as supreme in both Economical and Engineering terms. By faking/achieving the landing, they not only "proved" themselves as 'ahead' of the game it was also a huge international PR success, attracting the best engineering minds for years to come. They also felt they had to try something bigger and better then those crafty Russians who has sent Yuri Gugarin into space back in 1961, naturally the Moon was the biggest challenge.

i love the fact that every news paper that has reported this has felt the need to include the fact the Buzz Aldrin smacked some documentary making for claiming it was a fake about ten years ago - top man!

Already being covered in the other moon probe thread - although the discussion over there is more intelligent.

You can prove it without going yourself. It is proved on a fairly regular basis and has been every couple of weeks for the past 42 yaers.

Anybody who believes the moon landings are faked is a moron. End of.

It was perhaps the most fantastic feat of human engineering and endeavour ever carried out by man, it is a disaster that such a desire to succeed against amazing odds is no longer encouraged.

The pictures that were posted in the Mail and online should help prove beyond doubt that the moon landings occurred. No doubt the naysayers will say it is a NASA photoshop or something.

And that is why they succeeded in achieving the goal. They didn't need to fake anything. They did it - one of mankinds's greatest achievements to date and it frankly sickens me that anyone thinks that it didn't actually happen.

Worth a viewing. It needs to be understood though what this Sibrel had been doing prior this episode. The bloke was not making an unbiased documentary, he was stalking the former astronauts. I believe he has now fallen on hard times.

As opposed to just fallen on his ass.

Reading the most recent Wiki entry for Sibrel it is obvious that the guy is certifiable.

The sad thing about the modern world is that a nobody, non-achiever such as him can use the internet and even TV to peddle total lies and plain ignorance as fact. And even sadder is that there are enough undereducated and credulous fools out there who believe him.

They definitely did.

But then someone autonomously decided that it was just like a backwater boat, plane or train ride, rather that a feat of human achievement in pushing scientific and technology boundaries relevant to general mankind, so really it wasn't all that and could have been done on a movie set for what it was worth to the few that might care wink

I am going on Desert Island Disks next week to talk about the few things that I would take into the sin bin

Jeezus. This again? Don't you think the Russkies who were monitoring everything and in competition would have blown the whistle if NASA did fake it?

Endless mongs with too much imagination hooking onto crap conspiracy theories.

Sometimes I think we are entering a new Dark Ages. Education, progress and knowledge decline and the jabbering hordes take over. When everyone who was cogniscent in 1969 is dead, it is not impossible the moon landings will end up on a par with Daniken and his Aztec astronauts frown
