Some advice please team.

We are looking at changing the leader of the opposition's car, for something with a higher driving position and a little more practicality than her current 330d saloon.

On the list for a while has been a Freelander 2 or a Volvo XC60, a new model X3 or Q5 is just too expensive. I reckon the 330d (a 56 plate, auto, leather M-Sport, silver, Bluetooth, FSH 70k miles, 2 owners incl us) is good for c£10k on trade in and I'm prepared to spend up to £11k in addition to trade in value of the BMW.

I've been offered a 2009 Nissan Murano (face lift version) with the basic mega-spec for around £18.5K and there's something about it's 3.5V6 and decent size that I'm drawn to; I just know it's going to be an effortless drive compared to a 4-cyclinder Freelander. I hear they have good reliability, but I guess it'll be worth little in 3-4 years time.

What do you all know about Murano’s then....?

OP, we were in the same position as you.

Narrowed it down to a Lexus RX300 and a Nissan X-trail. Went for the Lexus - as we know, petrol 4x4s are rather unloved so £ for lb, you get can get rather a lot of well engineered car for your money.
