My Scout troop are going to be involved in a wide game, which will involve transporting a volume of cash.
Now obviously, its not going to have a huge monetary value, probably about £20 at the most.
Where could I buy/exchange my GBP for the greatest volume (ie; a big pile) of foreign/play money?

It wouldn't really give a 'pile' though, just a handful of ten billion zimbabwe dollar notes!

For £20 you're probably better off getting some 'play money' printed off.

Probably not quite the cheapest, but I think these are great: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004XI5O3S/

Buy half a dozen packs for under £20, that's 180 "notes".

Wikipedia has a handy list of Least Valued Currency Units complete with details of highest denomination coins and notes.

Trouble is most of them are hard to get hold of in the High Street and even if youcan you'll most likely get a few high denomination notes rather than a nice pile of low denomination ones.

Second (third?) the suggestion to get something printed off at your local print shop. Gives the shop the cash and you the toys.

rupees. smallest note = 5rupee, at 74 to the pound gives you 295 notes. should also be achievable on the high street.

Except that the Indian govt get sniffy about their money leaving their country, hence you exchange your money when you get to India, rather than doing it here and transporting it over.

What about somewhere like Singapore, I know that everything there is expensive, but what is the currency?

It may be possible to find a friendly PHer in another country who will send you some notes.

Thanks for the suggestion guys.
We have a big wood near us - Hazelborough near silverstone, the Scouts are going to orienteer to fixed locations within the wood, whilst the Explorers will be on gaurd to take any captives to the cooler. However the gaurds are bribe-able, so the scout patrol that returns with the most money and scouts wins. The large "volume" of money would just make it seem more exiting and if its a big enough volume, somewhat more of a challenge too.

Your problem lies with needing physical delivery of the currency.

Most crap currencies are controlled so this is not possible.

All you can really do is either look on Ebay to see if someone is dumping a load of tin pot currency, but I suspect Ebay are not regulated for this so it may be a banned product, or go to TravelEx's website and find the currency with the largest number.

My guess would be Thai baht, Taiwan dollar, Phillipine Peso, Indonesian Rupiah, Kenyan Shilling or even The Mauritous Rupee. All of those should be over 800 to the GBP and available in physical in the UK.

I think it is the Rupiah which is mental.

The Sing Dollar makes the GBP look like chump change at about 1.92 to the pound (historically it's been about 3).

IDR's would be my best guess, but not sure if you can get these in the UK.
