Very.

I had a biggie back in 84. Went into theatre for leg amputation. Got lucky with an American surgeon who tried an experiment that worked.

The body can work wonders but it takes an eternity. Twenty years on and I still get improvements. Five years after the crash I had a huge limp and thought I was stuck like that for life. Now, you wouldn't know unless I am tired. I only say this in case anyone is reading and feeling low from an off and thinks like this guy.

He baled out early as he couldn't see a future. That future may be a long way off, but it can be there.

RIP

So agree - had a big off nearly two years ago - nothing in this or your league; I was lucky and just mashed my knee up. Most of the big wins are won now but constant little things still keep improving; as of last March, I can ski again; as of this April, I can run again; anytime now I should be able to start climbing again; this season I hope to be able to play rugby again.

Try not to give up hope...

Might have made that a little unclear. I did keep my leg.... Just. They took two inches out of the knee, but that's not really a problem once you adjust. For a few years a false one would have been better, but then the real thing started improving. Took seven years to get back on a bike properly. Now the leg is good. I swim three miles a week and this weekend bought a power kite. throws you up in the air and drags you all over the place. The only thing I can't do now is sky surfing, but maybe that's a good thing

Chin up to anyone who thinks things won't get better!
